It has been quite a long time since I've enjoyed the dark, cold mornings standing arm to arm in a corral waiting for the start gun, or military fly over to begin a long race. In my 40's I was introduced to running by a great friend and avid runner. Starting with 5K's, then 10 milers, then many halfs and eventually several full marathon races- I SMILE at all the fond memories of each race- NYC Half, Virginia and Marine Corp full, they all hold special memories.
For the past few years, I've been sidelined with a breast cancer diagnosis. The last 2 1/2 years have been filled with treatments and surgeries. Now I only have one remaining surgery before I race next Jan. In preparation for my race, I'm slowly tying up those old Brooks sneakers and hitting the trails, roads and treadmill. I've never really run for time, and now I'm excited to just RUN - with healthy lungs and legs to keep me moving forward, and i will always be thankful to GOD for allowing me to be physically able to run again.
I hope you will consider donating to help me raise money for a great cause- Girls on the Run - a program that will allow more girls in Central Fla. to gain self confidence, have fun and be healthier through running. Having 2 daughters myself I realize the importance of healthy habits and self esteem. The girls learn how to set goals, achieve them and gain confidence in their achievements. I'm proud to support such a cause and I hope you will join me in bringing more programs to Girls on the Run.
Thank you for your generous contributions.
Sincerely,
Jennifer A.
