Girls on the Run is a program I am deeply passionate about supporting. As a previous coach, I've seen the impact the program has on young girls beyond just running. Girls on the Run reaches girls in 3rd-8th grade, strengthening their confidence at a time when society begins to tell them they can't. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event.
Along with my fellow associate board members, I am raising funds to bring the life-changing program to girls from underserved communities across the city of Philadelphia. Each season over 68% of our girls are able to experience the program through scholarship support. Over 55% of our participants come from families with an annual income of less than $29,000.
