When the world was struck by an unprecedented pandemic in 2020, everything felt out of sorts, and reality became uncertain. As a high school senior who had lost her final lacrosse season and was preparing to enter college as a collegiate athlete, the weight of the pandemic felt especially daunting.
To stay physically fit for my first college lacrosse season, I started running one mile every day. I was not a runner, and that one mile I committed to felt near impossible to sustain. Still, I committed to showing up daily. Soon, one mile became one and a half, then two, then three, and beyond.
I went on to play four seasons of college lacrosse. During my senior year, I developed a desire to run a half marathon and completed the Philadelphia Half Marathon in 2023. At the time, this was one of the most gratifying experiences of my life. I have run two more half marathons since then and decided after the most recent one I completed in April 2024 that it was time to take my passion for running to the next level—this time, with a longer distance and for something bigger than myself.
I am taking on this challenge to raise money for young girls in sports. Athletics has given me countless opportunities, built my confidence in unimaginable ways, and connected me with so many incredible people. I want other young girls to experience the same joy and gratitude for sports and running that I have today.
I am proud to be a SoleMate and to represent this cause on November 1st. Thank you so much for your support!
