OUR MISSION:
Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake provides girls in 3rd - 8th grades with a positive, character development program that teaches girls social, emotional, and physical well-being at a critical time in their lives.
THE PROGRAM:
Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake ("GOTRGC"), an independent 501(c)3, offers a positive youth development program to girls in 3rd - 8th grades in Anne Arundel, Baltimore City, Baltimore, Calvert, Charles, Kent, Queen Anne's, Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, Worcester, St. Mary's counties in Maryland. GOTRGC helps participants recognize their inner strength, increase their level of physical activity, imagine their possibilities, and confidently stand up for themselves and others. How? Through the innovative integration of fun physical activities, life-skills lessons, and impactful community projects.
Our core curriculum addresses various aspects of girls’ development, including their physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being. At the end of each season, participants complete a community impact project and a celebratory 5K, experiencing the exhilarating feeling of accomplishment. However, at Girls on the Run, the finish line is just the beginning, as our ultimate goal is to provide our participants with tools for positive mental health and well-being, and the confidence to know that they CAN!
