GNC was founded in 1947 and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1951. In 1965, the Minnette Smith Good Neighbors Club Child Care Center was officially certified as a Head Start Program. The Good Neighbors Child Care Center was licensed as the Good Neighbors Club Child Development Center in 1973. The Center has provided child development services continuously to date, including during the COVID pandemic. GNC has awarded over $10,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and undergraduate college students. GNC will present the Minnette Smith Community Service Award to an individual who is making a positive difference in he Del Paso Heights community.
