Why I’m Running for Girls on the Run
This year I’ll be standing at the starting line of the New York City Marathon, but this race is about so much more than miles.
I’m running for Girls on the Run an organization that I absolutely love and proudly support here in the Hudson Valley.
As an endurance athlete, running has given me so much. It has taught me discipline, resilience, and the power of believing in yourself. But what makes Girls on the Run so special is that they are teaching those same life lessons to young girls at a critical age — helping them build confidence, develop healthy habits, and discover their inner strength through movement and community.
This mission hits close to home for me.
I’m the official DJ for Girls on the Run events in the Hudson Valley, and I’ve had the privilege of watching these young girls cross the finish line of their 5K with smiles, confidence, and a belief that they can do anything. As a father of two daughters, those moments mean everything to me. I want every girl to grow up knowing she is strong, capable, and unstoppable.
Running the NYC Marathon is one of the toughest challenges an athlete can take on. But if my miles can help raise awareness, raise funds, and help even more girls discover their power, then every step will be worth it.
I’m honored to run for this mission.
If you believe in empowering the next generation of strong, confident girls, I invite you to support the cause and join me in making a difference.
Because when girls believe in themselves, there is truly no finish line to what they can achieve.
