My involvement is as both a board member and coach are a direct reflection of my values—championing future female leaders, creating girl-led spaces, and advocating for programs that meet the unique needs of girls, especially those facing adversity. Girls on the Run equips participants with foundational life skills like goal setting, self-expression, and teamwork—skills that help them thrive not just as athletes, but as confident individuals.
As a coach, I’ve learned that Girls on the Run is about far more than running. It’s about guiding girls through the complexities of adolescence, helping them build resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Coaching means creating a space where girls feel seen, heard, and celebrated. We emphasize hard work, dedication, and the power of showing up for one another.
Our teams in Central Oregon have taken Star Power to extraordinary heights and Moved Mountains. Through consistent effort and encouragement, the girls not only grew individually but formed a truly remarkable team. They supported, cheered, and lifted each other up—creating bonds that went beyond the track. We laughed, learned, and built friendships that will last well beyond the season.
As a parent, watching my daughter grow through this experience has been profoundly moving. Seeing her set ambitious goals and work passionately to achieve them has shown me the true power of this program. She’s gained a love for running, new friendships, confidence, and a deep belief in her limitless potential. My heart swelled with pride—not just for her accomplishments, but for every girl on the team.
The impact of Girls on the Run is hard to put into words. When I first signed up to coach, I had no idea how transformative it would be—for the girls, for our community, and for me. It’s an honor to help lay the foundation for these girls to build resilience, embrace their strengths, and thrive in every aspect of their lives.
