On November 1st, 2026, I'm running the NYC 2026 marathon. I am so excited to support a cause that's so close to my heart: empowering young women through running. In a world that's so digital, and with young people being native users in that society, I think it's even more important to encourage and have space for analog activities, like running, and sports in general. Cheering on your teammates during hard workouts, celebrating your gains and wins together, and laughing and bonding along the way. Some of my longest friendships are from the women I ran with in middle school and high school. I recently visited one in London this past Summer, and the other is who I met my husband through 7 years ago.
Running was a huge part of my personal development journey as a young woman. In 7th grade, the first year you could try out for team sports in public schools in Texas, I tried out for volleyball in the Fall and sadly didn't make the team. My hand-eye coordination wasn't really there, and after trying polo a few months ago, I can confirm it still isn't. So what sport(s) didn't have try-outs? Cross country. I guess there weren't a ton of people who wanted to do long-distance running in the TX heat for an extracurricular. It really was not okay how hot it was - one time, in September, the meet was canceled because the heat index was 114 at 4pm. Anyways, I signed up and found out I actually loved it! In the Spring, essentially the same scenario happened with basketball and track. I ran the 2-mile and 1-mile, which are basically the first and last races of the 12-hour meets (sorry mom and dad). I continued to run through high school, and then switched to road races in college and beyond. It's been a while since I've tackled a marathon, but so excited to do it at home in NYC and for a cause I wholly support. I would be so appreciative if you'd help support this cause by making a donation to my campaign. Any amount is so, so appreciated.
