What could be better than spending some dad-daughter time together? Finishing a half marathon together!! Joe and Erin Skolte are excited to share that we are run/walking the Philadelphia Half Marathon together on November 22nd and are fundraising for Girls on the Run Philadelphia 💕
A note from Erin:
I have been supporting Girls on the Run (GOTR) for most of my life, as a volunteer coach and committee member, staff member, and now as 5K Director at GOTR Philadelphia! Here in Philly, over 60% of the participants rely on scholarship funds to access our life-changing program. In order to provide these scholarships, we rely on donations to extend the reach and impact of our programming.
Girls on the Run inspires participants to recognize their individual strengths while building a sense of connection in a team setting. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with building confidence, character, and competence; enabling participants to adapt to whatever comes their way. At the end of the season, the team completes a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.
Dad and I are excited to be participating in the Philadelphia Half Marathon together while raising funds for GOTR Philly. It’s my second time running this iconic event, and I was delighted when Dad decided he would fly in from Minnesota to participate as a power walker! He has finished many 5K races, and jumped at the opportunity to train for a longer distance challenge. We’ve been trading training progress updates and hyping each other up, despite the miles between us.
We hope you’ll support us with well wishes on November 22nd, and would be so touched if you’d consider donating towards our fundraiser in hopes of raising $1500 for the GOTR Philadelphia scholarship fund! Thank you for your support of our event and of the organization dearest to my heart.
Warm regards,
Joe and Erin Skolte
