I’ve been coaching GOTR for eight seasons now. I decided to be a coach after I was asked to be a running buddy for a family friend and experiencing the 5k event and the excitement of the girls as a team. Although I was only with the team for one day I could see and feel the joy and pride within the team.
Girls on the Run provides a group of girls the skills and strategies needed to be the best teammate, no matter what kind of team they may end up on, supporting each other on and off the field, court, track, stage…
I’m part of many teams. My family, the team of teachers I work with, a soccer team, my schools GOTR team, and a crew of friends that set physical goals for ourselves and workout together to achieve them. One of our big goals this year is to run another Ragnar Relay Trail Race as a team. October 3-4 we will each run 3 trail loops relay style in 2 days and through the night.
To prepare, as a team we will work out together, run trails, hike, and participate in small local events such as the Race Against Racism and Girls on the Run 5k!
I need my teammates no matter what team I am working or playing with. They encourage me, support me and challenge me to do hard things. I want the Girls that join the GOTR program to have the opportunity to become their best selves and the best teammate for others!. Please help me build a team of supportive, encouraging and powerful young ladies for our communities team by donating to the Girls on the Run program.
