On November 1st, I'm running the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon for Girls on the Run NYC. Yes, all 26.2 miles. Yes, on purpose. And yes, in full sparkle regalia. Those who follow my running journey know I will show up to that start line in red lipstick, sparkles, and probably a tutu. Some things are non-negotiable.
If you know me, you know running changed my life. I came to it late, and I had no idea what I was getting into. What started as a way to move my body turned into something I never expected: a community, a lifeline, and honestly, a whole new version of myself. My community of running women are the reason I keep going. We show up for each other when it's hard, we cheer when we're struggling, and we celebrate every single finish line like it's the first one. Running gave me stress relief, clarity, fun*, and friendships I didn't know I needed until I had them.
Girls on the Run exists so young girls don't have to wait until they're in their 40s to find this. Through running and real life skills, they learn early what took me years: that they are capable of hard things, that their bodies are strong, and that they already have everything they need to lead.
I'm running 26.2 miles so more girls in our community grow up already knowing that. Will you help me get there?
*By "fun" I mean Type 2 fun, which is the kind you don't realize you had until it's over. I definitely complain a lot along the way.
