This giving season I am giving girls in the Philadelphia area the gift of confidence. Along with my fellow board members at Girls on the Run, I am raising funds to bring the life-changing program to girls from underserved communities across our region.
Over the past 13 years, Girls on the Run Philadelphia has inspired over 8,600 girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. Now more than ever we are working hard to make sure EVERY girl who wishes to participate in our sports-based positive youth development program is able to do so. Now through December 31st our dedicated board of directors has pledged a board match of $27,000. This means contributions to my fundraiser will be DOUBLED until we reach $27,000. Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic lessons and running games.
The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Each season 70% of our participants are able to experience the program through scholarship support - this is why your support is so critical!
