As a mom of a teenage daughter, I am passionate about making sure she has high self-esteem, confidence in her ability to do hard things, and lives a healthy life style, physically and mentally. When she was in grade school, I volunteered to be one of the Girls on the Run coaches for her school's team. I coached the girls for 3 years. The GOTR program inspires girls to be confident and resilient using a fun, experience based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Throughout the season, the girls bond and work together toward a common goal of completing a 5K run. The most rewarding part for me was watching each girl cross the finish line at the end of season run, and my hope is that others get to experience the same thing.
I continue to support GOTR, and this year I signed up to do the 14er challenge, a hike that includes 2 of Colorado's highest mountains: Mt Elbert (14,433) & Mt Massive (14,421). The Challenge entails hiking both mountains in 2 days. Many of you know that I love hiking, so this challenge is right up my alley! My goal is to show young girls how hard work, persistence and grit pays off to accomplish something important to you.
For this reason, I am asking for your support. My goal is to raise $5000 to support 2 teams next fall. Over 70% of the young girls that participate in GOTR are in need of financial support. Your donation helps ensure all girls can experience this amazing program!
Here are a few ways your donation makes an impact:
$25 - 5K registration fee for one girl
$50 - team supplies for one season
$195 - supports one girl for the season
$2500 - supports a full team for one season
I hope you will join me in my quest to sponsor 2 teams, 1 for each 14'er I climb!
Thank you!
Stephany
