This year marks a milestone birthday for me, and as I reflect on the moments, lessons, and people who helped shape who I am — one theme stands out: believing I could do hard things. That belief started early, thanks to parents who encouraged me to try, to stumble, and to keep going. It’s also what drew me to Girls on the Run Heart of Kansas more than a decade ago. My GOTR story began in 2011, soon after completing my first half marathon. I wanted my miles to count for something bigger, so I joined as a SoleMate supporting this brand-new local council. Since then, I’ve had the joy of serving on the 5K Committee, coaching a team, and now serving on the Board — and through it all, I’ve witnessed the incredible transformation this program creates. Girls on the Run isn’t really even about running. It’s about giving girls the tools to build confidence, strengthen friendships, and discover their limitless potential. The lessons they learn — about teamwork, self-worth, and resilience — are lessons they carry for life. To celebrate this milestone birthday, I’m inviting friends and family to join me in supporting Girls on the Run Heart of Kansas. Your contribution — big or small — helps ensure more girls can experience this empowering program and see the “I can” in their own stories. If you’ve ever been encouraged to chase your goals, push past doubt, or believe in your strength — you already know the power of what this program provides.
