Today’s girls face barriers and challenges that make girl-centered programs more critical than ever. Only 16.5% of girls get the recommended amount of daily physical activity, girls start sports later and drop out earlier than boys, girls’ confidence begins to drop when they reach pre-adolescence, and research reveals that girls are navigating increasing mental health challenges.
This Global Running Day, consider supporting Girls on the Run. Our out-of-school-time program for girls in 3rd-8th grade provides participants with a space that makes it easier for them to raise their hands, talk about certain topics, try new things, and be themselves. Our program emphasizes effort, skill development, and personal goal setting rather than outcomes. It’s more than just running– it’s about providing a way for girls to live empowered, healthy, and confident lives.
Donations today reduce barriers to participation and provides crucial resources to participants – supporting program registration fees, running gear, team funds, and so much more.
