To support Honest Pricing laws, Pinwheel has added an option to display all event prices with processing fees included. For example, if a category costs $40, and the participants are responsible for paying the fees, the price can be displayed as $42.79 or less (processing fees may vary). To turn this feature on, go to Account Settings - Processing Fees and turn the toggle to Yes. All displayed prices will then include processing fees on these pages:
For example, below is how pricing can be displayed on the Information Panel:
These changes have been applied to all California-based events where processing fees are passed along to participants. For any events targeting California consumers, even those held outside the state of California, the prices must include any processing fees.
All marketing materials that target California consumers also need to include the actual price, so we encourage accounts to update websites, social media campaigns, blog posts, email marketing messages, and all other marketing collateral for events to show pricing that includes the processing fee, where it is pushed to consumers. To see a list of category prices with processing fees included, in an event click Web Pages - Information Page.
While this is a California-specific law for now, a similiar federal law has passed through the House with bipartisan support and is with the Senate for approval. We anticipate these pricing display requirements may soon be required nationwide. If you have any questions, please contact Pinwheel Support at support@pinwheel.us.
We recently shared that the Pinwheel Attendance App has now moved to an annual subscription model. If your organization previously used the app, you were invoiced on July 15th, 2024 for the upcoming year, and the app is available to use. The subscription will renew on on July 15, 2025.
Here are a few important notes:
GOTR organizations: Please select the curriculum version for all categories in the event before allowing volunteers to log into the app. This sets the correct session names.
Non-GOTR organizations: Please insert your session names before allowing volunteers to log into the app. Click here for instructions
The session names are downloaded to the app when volunteers log in for the first time. If the session names are not correct when they first log in, the volunteer will have incorrect session names. A fee will be assessed by Pinwheel to adjust session names after volunteers have logged into the app.
If your organization has not used the Attendance App before, please contact support@pinwheel.us for pricing and to subscribe.
Payment Plan functionality in Events has been improved!
In addition, Individual Fundraisers can now update the background color selection on their fundraising pages.
Pinwheel now supports integrating Double the Donation's 360MatchPro platform into fundraiser donations! The 360MatchPro platform provides nonprofits with tools to identify donors eligible for matching gifts. Fuel your growth by empowering supporter participation in workplace giving programs while gaining actionable insights from 360MatchPro along the way. For more details, visit Double the Donation. For instructions on how to integrate existing 360MatchPro accounts with Pinwheel, click here.
In addition, Pinwheel's Donation Details page has been revised to reduce clutter and streamline the donor experience. Unnecessary headers and lines have been removed, and field names now appear inside the fields, instead of appearing both above and inside the field. The form has also been reordered to put all billing information together, including address and payment method. And the Donate button now includes the donation amount!
We also added new features to the Attendance App:
We redesigned the Individual and Organization donor dashboards! Open a person or organization record and click on the Donations tab to see the new view. Also, click on any donor listed in the Donor Dashboards to open the person/organization record and access the new dashboard.
We added new business rules to the Auto-Accept function in Volunteer Recruitment Campaigns in an effort to reduce duplicate person records:
1. If an applicant’s first name, last name, address, and birth date all match to an existing person’s record, the application will be automatically accepted and merged with the existing record, even if the email addresses are different.
2. If an applicant’s first name, last name, and birth date all match an existing person record, but the address and email are different, the applicant will move to Needs Review status. When accepting the record, the system will notify the user that, "A person record was found for "Sam Jones" with a matching birthday and an email address of "sam@pinwheel.us".
3. If an applicant’s last name, address, and birth date all match an existing person record, but the first name and email are different, the applicant will move to Needs Review status. When accepting the record, the system will notify the user that, "A person record was found for "Sam Jones" with a matching address and birthday and an email address of "sam@pinwheel.us".
4. If an applicant’s first name, address, and birth date all match an existing person record, but the last name and email are different, the applicant will move to Needs Review status.
