New Pinwheel Updates!
  1. New Feature! In Events, a new field has been added called Organizations under Settings - Participant Details. Accounts can turn this field on in a registration event if businesses or community groups will be registering, and the organization name needs to be collected. Functionality has also been added to the Participant Conversion tool so any organization participants can be converted to Organization records. This will better support sponsorship, vendor fair, and expo registrations.
  2. New Feature! If the account is subscribed to the Pinwheel Email Marketing module, a list of all email campaigns sent to a person will now appear on a new Email Marketing tab inside the Person Record. A summary box will appear at the top of the screen listing each email address on the person record, how many Email Groups and Campaigns the email is associated with, and whether the email address is subscribed to receive campaigns.
  3. New Feature! In Donors and Donor List, in Donor Segmentation if Person Role is selected and then Board Member is chosen, a new field called Board Status appears to select all, current, former, or potential board members.
  4. Updated Report! In Events, a new column called "Financial Assistance" has been added to the Category List Report, summarizing the number of participants for each category who received financial assistance, either through the financial assistance page in registration or through using a discount code that was categorized as Financial Assistance.
  5. In Email Marketing, inside Groups, under the Contact Import tab, a new tool called Import Source has been added to download to Excel the original source of imported email addresses.
  6. In Events - Settings - Messages, the Information Page tab has been moved to the end of row of tabs.

New Pinwheel Updates!
  1. New Feature! Choose your preferred view when first logging in to Pinwheel! Under your initials in the upper right corner, there is a new option called Pinwheel Starting View. Options include the Account Dashboard, Event List, Fundraiser List, Recruitment Campaign List, or Donor Dashboards.     
  2. Event Settings has a new option under Participant Details. The category status can now be displayed or hidden in the Participant Summary box on the “Add a Participant?” page.
  3. In Events, the Lottery tool received some visual improvements.  
  4. In Donors, the Donor List has also received some improvements, including freezing the donor name columns in place.   
  5. Site Applications have a new Standard Question under the Schedule Question Group called “Additional comments about schedule”. This can be turned on so applicants can provide more insight to the schedule provided in the application.
  6. In Fundraisers, the Contributors List Report now shows Total Donation and Net Donation, in addition to the original Fundraiser Donation and processing fee columns.

Recruitment Campaign applications can now be offered in Spanish or French!

To add languages to a campaign, click on Settings, and add Spanish and/or French in the Languages field on the General tab.

While standard Pinwheel field names and messages will be automatically translated, all other values in the Setup Menu that are specific to the campaign must be translated by the account. Click on each menu option, choose Spanish or French from the Language field at the top, and add translated values to all fields highlighted in magenta.

New Pinwheel Update!

Pinwheel has a new Account Settings tool! A gear icon now appears in between the Announcements and Help Center tools in the upper right corner of Pinwheel. The Global Settings tab in the account record has been removed, and all system settings (as well as some new ones!), have been placed in the Account Settings tool:

  1. Fiscal Years and Fundraising Goals - These are used for display purposes in Donor Dashboards.
  2. Event Category Cancellation Reasons – New and improved name.
  3. Event Participant Withdrawn Reasons – New and improved name.
  4. Employee Roles - New! Additional functionality will be added to the Person Record’s Employee tab to incorporate these roles in a future release.
  5. Volunteer RolesNew! Accounts can now create new volunteer roles and will only see roles previously used by the account’s volunteers (or those established by a Parent Account).
  6. Board Member Roles – Accounts can create roles for use in the Board Member tab in the Person Record.
  7. Gender Options - New! Accounts can control the gender options available in events and recruitment campaigns.
  8. Receipt Sender Options - Improved! If the account has a Pinwheel Email Marketing subscription, instead of sending receipts from notify@pinwheelmail.com, receipts can come from an account email address using this tool. This feature now works for events and recruitment campaigns, in addition to fundraisers.

NOTE for Parent/Child Accounts: Parent accounts can control whether child accounts can add, edit, or delete system settings.

While we update the Pinwheel training options, standard small group classes are not being offered. If you have an immediate need for training or in-depth support, customized training/support sessions are available with 60 minute, 90 minute, and 2 hour options.

Have questions about volunteers logging into Pinwheel or the Attendance App?

With a variety of devices and technical abilities, it is common to receive questions from volunteers as they log into Pinwheel or the Attendance App for the first time.

At the very top of the Help Center, under Quick Answers to Common Questions, there is a link to a resource called the Volunteer Login Troubleshooting Guide. Use this guide first to answer most volunteer login questions.

If the issue isn't resolved after reviewing this resource, please reach out to support@pinwheel.us with as many specifics as possible about what the volunteer is experiencing. Thank you!

Updated Attendance App is ready!

The Attendance App has been updated and is now available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for volunteers to download. The following enhancements have been added to the App:  

  1. Accounts can now build Attendance App sessions inside Pinwheel. To use this feature, open the event, go to Management – Attendance App and use the tools in the Sessions section. (Note: GOTR accounts will continue to have sessions automatically built based on the curriculum selected.)
  2. Accounts can now turn off the ability for volunteers to send group texts through the Attendance App (this setting can be found in the event, then Management – Attendance App tool).
  3. Attendance App settings are now included in the Copy Event tool so the same values can be applied to future events.
  4. In the Attendance App, a new Shirt Order report has been added under the Reports button to show giveaways for volunteers and participants, and any giveaways that were also purchased as store items.
  5. In the Attendance App, under the Site Information button, contact information now includes Title, if available on the person record (for example, Principal, School Nurse, etc.).
  6. Also in Site Information, accounts can now display additional information for volunteers. To use this feature, open a category in the event, go to the Notes tab, add a note, and set the Note Type to Attendance App; it will appear in the Attendance App for volunteers to see. An example could be, “Sessions will be held in Room 23.”.

New language added to Pinwheel!

Pinwheel has added French as a language option in the event registration form.

To add French to an event, click on Settings, and choose French in the Languages field on the General tab.
