DAY 1. May 23, 2026 - 13TH ANNUAL ART OF SURVIVAL CENTURY AND GRAVEL BICYCLE RIDE – located on the Oregon/California border near Klamath Falls, Oregon. Is it the stunning natural beauty of our ride routes in Springtime or the uncrowded backroads that draws cyclists to the Art of Survival Century year after year? Perhaps it is our famous rural hospitality. This Memorial Day weekend, we invite you to celebrate with us, “America: 250 years in the making” and experience for yourself all that makes the Art of Survival Century and Gravel Bicycle Ride one of Southern Oregon’s and Northern California’s most popular early season rides. Pedal through scenic farm country and experience the beauty, wildlife and historical magic of the region. Many spectacular places like the first US National Waterfowl Refuge, the Tule Lake National Monument (Tulelake Segregation Center) and the Lava Beds National Monument where amazing geology/geography surround the rider. Choose from five routes.
DAY 2. May 24, Mix of GRAVEL ROUTES through beautiful Butte Valley across the border in California with amazing views of Mt. Shasta as cyclists wind through the valley passing strawberry nurseries, ranches, wildlife, grasslands and beautiful Juanita Lake. Choose from three routes.
Plenty of rest stops both days featuring educational components with unique Ranger/Historian led talks, SAG, plus a variety of tasty and nutritional foods. Minimal traffic on mostly flat terrain. GREAT WEEKEND GETAWAY! RV and camping sites available at Tulelake-Butte Valley Fairgrounds, Malin RV Parks, Merrill RV Parks, Dorris RV Park and campgrounds in the surrounding area.
Included in the fees is a pre-ride reception, post-ride celebratory meal, entertainment and SWAG. Great weekend getaway with multiple day activities to include agri-tours, exploration of caves in Lava Beds National Monument, two great self-guided audio tours--Modoc War: A Homeland Lost and Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge History, visit to Crater Lake National Park, waterfowl and wildlife viewing, riding other bike trails, disc golf and much more!
