Girls on the Run Central Virginia and Blue Ridge Spring 2023 Celebration 5K Event: Charlottesville

Anyone who has been to a Girls on the Run 5K knows that it is unlike any other running event.  It is a celebration of and for the girls who are completing a ten-week season of the Girls on the Run Program.  By the day of the 5K, their enthusiasm is so unbridled that they are running around before the official run begins!  Positive energy abounds as the girls dance to warm-up music, get their hair “happied” and "tattoos" on their faces, then gather with their teammates to hold hands as they head to the starting line.  The course is a one-and-a-half-mile loop around the St. Anne's Belfield campus, that the runners will repeat 2 times for a 3.1-mile run. Our 5K is a non-competitive event that will bring a smile to your face, and you will be so glad you joined us!

The following sites will be participating in this event: Buford Middle School, Burnley-Moran Elementary, Hollymead Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Locust Grove Elementary, Meriwether Lewis Elementary, Riverheads Elementary, Wilson Elementary, Stony Point Elementary, Virginia L Murray Elementary, and William Perry Elementary.

If your child is unable to participate in this event, you may join us for one of the other 5K events.  Please speak directly with your coaches and email us directly prior to all events:  girlsontheruncenva@verizon.net.

Unable to join us?  Participate as a Virtual Runner for $40 and we will send you a race t-shirt and medal.

Do you love Girls on the Run and want to give back?  Consider running this 5K as a SoleMate, and we will waive all registration fees.  All you do is commit to raising $262 by race day.   This money will be used to help pay registration fees for a young girl next season who might not otherwise be able to participate.  What a great way to share the love of running! (With this option, you must also register separately as a SoleMate).
