Walk Woof Wag 2021

Walk Woof Wag

Walk Woof Wag is BACK for 2021!

2020 was a year that tested our community's resilience, and the Chico Animal Shelter stepped up to the plate in so many ways to help animals in need.  When the North Complex Fires burned out of control in Butte County in September 2020, CAS reached out to those communities to let them know that they could take in injured and displaced animals.

One of the dogs that came to CAS as a result of the fires was Olaf, a big, sweet Siberian Husky.  Olaf had four burned paws and an injury to his right eye from what veterinarians thought could have been an ember.  His paws healed up nicely, but Olaf's right eye needed to be removed.  It didn't slow him down a bit!  Throughout his treatment and recovery, Olaf stayed true to himself - a friendly, loving dog who seemed to know that CAS staff and volunteers were doing everything they could to help him!

Despite numerous efforts, Olaf's previous owners were not able to be found. But Olaf's relationship with CAS ended in the best way - he was adopted to a forever home in February 2021!  During his stay at CAS, Olaf became a favorite of CAS staff member Kaitlyn because "he loves getting hugs and giving hugs!"  His love of hugs is also what earned Olaf his name! When you participate in Walk Woof Wag, you are directly helping animals like Olaf - dogs and cats in the greatest need, with no one else to help, that receive the absolute best care at CAS.

Walk Woof Wag directly benefits the Chico Animal Shelter's medical fund, and every dollar raised goes towards healing, housing, and finding a home for an animal like Olaf.
