Spring 2026 Girls on the Run-Chicago 5K - Volunteer Registration

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! As a volunteer, you will join our GOTR program participants, their running buddies, and members of the Chicagoland running community. This is the culminating event that celebrates the completion of their 10-week program.

Volunteers are needed to create the best possible 5K experience for our participants, and we encourage individuals or groups to come volunteer. Volunteers are needed for a multitude of tasks, which we have organized into four categories listed below:

Activities Volunteers 

Volunteers at the activity stations help the girls with varying projects and crafts at the 5K. Time commitment is 4 to 5 hours. This volunteer opportunity is great for parents, teens, and groups.   

Registration Volunteers

Assist with 5K registration. Time commitment is 3-4 hours. This volunteer opportunity is best suited for groups and individuals over 18 years of age. 

Hospitality Volunteers 

Includes: bus greeting, assisting with runner refreshments, medal distribution at the finish line, and assisting attendees at the information tent. Time commitment is 4 to 5 hours. This volunteer opportunity is great for parents, teens, and groups.  

Operations Volunteers

Pre- Event Day (Friday) Includes: onsite setup,  prepping site flags, setting out tables, and ground signage. The time commitment is 3 to 4 hours. This is a great opportunity for individuals who want to volunteer but aren’t available on event day. This role is capped at 15 people and will close once the maximum is reached.

Event Day (Saturday) Includes: distributing water to runners, start line assistants, and assisting runners on course. The time commitment is 4 to 5 hours. This volunteer opportunity is great for parents, teens, and groups. 

*The minimum age to volunteer is 16. Each volunteer must have their own individual volunteer registration.
