I am excited to be running the Philadelphia Marathon on November 24th to support this program for young disadvantaged girls in Philadelphia! I have been an educator for 38 years and this is my way of continuing to support young women and their lives. Training and athleticism builds self confidence, mental toughness, and empowers people to be inspired to always believe they can do more than they think they can in life. I've learned these lessons personally throughout my running career and hope to inspire others to reach for the stars.
The mission of Girls on the Run is to empower girls for a lifetime of healthy living. Our program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grades inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Trained coaches use physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional and physical skills in every girl while encouraging healthy habits for life.
