Hi Friends and Family!
This spring, I will be training for and running in the Big Sur Marathon 11-mile distance race to raise money in support of Girls on the Run, an organization that encourages and supports running for girl's grades 3rd to 8th. The program also fosters friendships and teaches girls to stand up for themselves and others. As I train, I will be collecting donations so that girls in the Bay Area can join this great organization. It's an excellent cause that inspires young girls to be confident, joyful and healthy and I'm proud to support them!
I recently learned that girls' self-confidence begins to fall at age 9 and girls' levels of physical activity start to decline at age 10. Girls on the Run promotes physical activity and grows self-confidence in young girls to combat these trends. I really wish I'd had a program like this in my community when I was growing up. I didn't come to my love of running until my 20's, but I know how powerful it can be in boosting self-esteem and body confidence.
Anyone who knows me knows that I love to run. Running has been such an anchor for me for the past two decades, keeping me healthy and supporting my mental health through all of life's changes. I am already working to instill a love of running in my daughter, Maddie - the attached picture was taken last Thanksgiving at a 10k Turkey Trot we ran and walked with my mother-in-law.
Please help me reach my goal of $1,500 by clicking on the link in my bio today. Any amount you give will make a difference and will help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you!
