Getting to bag Colorado’s 2 tallest peaks while supporting an organization I believe in? Count me in.
On July 31st and August 1st I’ll be hiking Colorado’s two highest peaks, Mount Elbert and Mount Massive, to raise funds for Girls on the Run of the Rockies. My $4,000 goal will support two teams of girls on the Front Range for the coming year by covering program expenses, gear for girls in need, and lesson materials. Two peaks, two teams!
Why Hike for Girls on the Run?
It’s simple - the organization’s mission and vision align with my values. GotR strengthens young girls’ social, emotional, physical and behavioral skills to help them successfully navigate life experiences. The program strives to help develop confidence, connection, character, and contribution in girls through lessons that incorporate running and other physical activities. GotR helps empower young girls to become strong women.
About the Hikes:
Mount Elbert (14,439′) is Colorado's tallest peak. The hike up (and down) Elbert will cover 9.5 miles with 4,700' of elevation gain. It's a popular climb in Colorado and is known to be one of the "easiest" 14ers.
Mount Massive (14,429′) is Colorado's second tallest peak. The mountain was named for its shape and size, because it literally is massive. The hike for Massive will cover 14.5 miles with 4,500' of elevation gain. A challenging hike to begin with, but with Elbert the day before we'll be doing it on tired legs - this one will definitely be the bigger challenge of the two.
If you have the means, I’m asking that you please donate to help me support Girls on the Run of the Rockies!
An organization that’s purpose is to empower girls to grow into strong women, while having an emphasis on fitness and wellness.
If you are unable to donate but have time to give, then I encourage you look into volunteering for a GotR Chapter in your area.
