Founded by Donna Berry in 2001, A Place for Hope (APFH) is the 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization whose mission is to change the futures of at-risk youth by providing educational support, life-skills training, and diverse cultural experiences for the residents of the Blackmon Road Community. This community is located in York County just outside the City of Rock Hill and has been plagued with extreme poverty for over half a century. But the Blackmon Road Community has come a long way over the past 25 years thanks to the help of sponsors like YOU!
There have been countless changes over the years that have improved the lives of many residents in the community, especially in the area of basic needs. A Place for Hope provides a Basic Needs Wash House offering access to safe, clean drinking water, toilets and showers, and $1 token operated washing machines and dryers for a community of residents who otherwise would not have such access. With the number of days with extreme heat and cold in the summer and winter, we often have utility bills that are difficult to keep up with. Your donations allow us to continue to pay the utility costs of running our Wash House and our APFH Eagles After School Program through our partnership with Winthrop University. We also need funding to provide internship supervision, healthy snacks, and cultural excursions with the kids in our regulation-compliant mini-bus through our After School Program. We are asking individuals, non-profits, and local churches to support us as many of you have done on the past. Thank you so much for your ongoing support of APFH!
