Dear Girls on the Run Families,
We hope that you and your girl are enjoying the GOTR At Home lessons. It has been wonderful to hear the feedback from both girls and caregivers alike, and we look forward to providing two new lessons weekly. We will be sure to email you when new lessons and videos are available.
As you all know, Governor Roy Cooper has mandated the closure of all NC K-12 schools through at least May 15th, as well as a Stay At Home order through the end of April. We recognize that everyone is being impacted by this pandemic, and we care deeply about our girls, families, and communities.
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel in-person Girls on the Run programming this spring, including the celebratory GOTR 5K in May. We are incredibly disappointed, and we know you and your girl are too, as we had been hoping to offer an abbreviated season later in the school year. As the situation has continued to escalate, it is clear that we must recognize our collective responsibility to ensure a safer and healthier community for all.
We will continue to offer GOTR At Home lessons and videos so that your girl can stay engaged in learning the critical life skills from our program. We are also now planning the GOTR WNC Virtual 5K to celebrate the girls and encourage them to continue to find the joy in movement. The Virtual 5K will be free to all Spring 2020 participants. Additionally in the coming weeks, we will launch GOTRgram, which will allow girls and coaches to stay connected by exchanging virtual mail, as well as GOTR Connect, which will serve as a virtual connection point for teams of coaches and girls to discuss GOTR At Home activities. Program shirts will also be distributed to all the girls as soon as it is safe for our staff to return to our office.
As a local nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where all girls can know and activate their limitless potential, we rely on program fees to support our operations and ensure all girls can participate. As you can imagine, this pandemic will have a devastating effect on our ability to continue to serve girls in our community. We are hopeful that you see the value of this program and our virtual offerings and will consider one of the following options, which includes donating some or all of your registration fee to the organization in place of a refund. We will gratefully provide a tax letter for your records.
Please note that if you were utilizing a payment plan, no additional payments will be drafted. Since only one payment was drafted, refunds requested in these cases will be up to 70% of the total due, less the balance due for remaining payments.
If you prefer to receive a refund, please click here to complete a refund request form. Refunds must be requested by 11:59 pm on April 7th. If you do not request a refund by this time, we will gratefully consider your full registration fee a donation to support our operations. All refunds will be processed and tax letters issued beginning April 10th. Thank you in advance for your patience with this process.
We are so grateful for your support and for helping to make a difference in the lives of girls in our community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at stephanie.bilotta@girlsontherun.org with any questions, concerns, or feedback that you may have. We wish you and your family the very best.
With gratitude,
