5K Volunteer Assignment Options:

Alumni Tent: Located in the GOTR Village. These volunteers manage our alumni tent by sharing their experiences as a former GOTR coach or participant, and help the community members that stop by take a look at various GOTR Silicon Valley memorabilia and scrapbooks through the years. (6:15 am - 10:00 am)

Bling Your Bib: Located in the GOTR Village. These volunteers help participants, coaches, and community runners decorate and make their bibs unique with fun stickers. (6:15 am - 10:00 am)

Cheer Signs: Located in the GOTR Village. These volunteers encourage and help 5K spectators to create cheer signs to hold along the course for their GOTR participant or community runner to see. (6:15 am - 10:00 am)

Cheer Stations: Located on the course. These high energy & enthusiastic stations require lots of cheering and motivation to get participants and community runners to the finish line. (7:00 am - 10:00 am)

Course Monitors: These volunteers will line the course at designated spots to cheer on GOTR participants & community runners, help support flow & safety on the course, and provide any assistance needed. You may be asked to walk to your place on the course (up to one mile). (7:00 am - 10:00 am)

First Aid: We ask that these crucial volunteers be EMTs, doctors, nurses, firefighters or have extensive knowledge of first aid and CPR. If you choose this volunteer option you will be contacted separately by the Volunteer Manager Melanie Lopez for further information. (6:00 am - 10:00 am)

Floaters: Floaters will help wherever they are needed! You can expect to be on your feet and on the go in this position. (6:45 am - 10:00 am)

Food: These volunteers set up and hand out food (bananas & granola bars) to our GOTR participants and community runners at the finish line. (7:00 am - 10:00 am)

FRIDAY Set-Up: Before the crowds arrive, these busy volunteers will be setting up the course and equipment at the venue the day before the event. This may involve some heavy lifting. (Anytime between 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

Green Team: Help us reduce our carbon footprint! Keep us environmentally friendly by ensuring our disposables are treated properly. (6:15 am - 10:00 am)

Greeters/Team Tables: These volunteers will be stationed at the main venue entrances and throughout the GOTR Village (i.e. Team Tables) to provide direction and answer questions. (6:15 am - 10:00 am)

Inspiration Station: Located in our GOTR Village. These volunteers encourage GOTR participants and community members to color motivational posters/print-outs to earn an exclusive GOTRSV 5K button. (6:15 am - 10:00 am)

Medals: These volunteers hand out finisher's medals to our GOTR participants and community runners at the finish line. (7:00 am - 10:00 am)

Motivation Bracelets: These volunteers hand out bracelets to GOTR participants and community runners as they pass by at miles 1 and 2. (7:00 am - 10:00 am)

Parking: The parking volunteers will work as a team with our public safety officers to facilitate the safe delivery of participants and families to the event and the flow of cars into parking spaces. This is a critical area where we need assertive volunteers! Parking volunteers must be AT LEAST 18- years or over. (5:15 am - 9:30 am)

Registration: These volunteers check in runners the morning of the event and give them their bib number. (5:45 am - 9:00 am)

Starting Line: These volunteers help all GOTR participants and community runners get to the starting line after their warm up. (6:45 am - 8:45 am)

Tear Down: After the run is completed and everyone has gone home, these volunteers are cleaning up the party! This may involve some heavy lifting. (10:00 am - 1:00 pm)

Volunteer Check-In: These volunteers assist the 5K Volunteer Manager with placement of volunteers and distribution of volunteer t-shirts. (5:00 am - 9:00 am)

Walking Sweep: These volunteers will walk behind the final participants, letting volunteers along the course know the course can be closed down at this point. (7:00 am - 10:00 am)

Water Stations: Water station volunteers will hand out water to participants along the course and in the GOTR village. They will also help to set up and tear down the water station. (6:15 am - 10:00 am)
