Please read through thoroughly so that you familiarize yourself with information to share with your coaches and families.

Registration fee: Sliding scale $0 - $225

Our program registration fee is $225. If any family is unable to afford the full price fee they are invited to use our sliding scale. The sliding scale fee ranges from $0 - $225 per participant. To help us continue to serve as many children as possible, we ask that families be honest when selecting their household size and income range. Accurate data is important for our internal, government and foundation reporting.

Last year alone, we awarded $125,706 in financial aid to 946 local families, and athleticwear and shoes to 305 children in need.

Payment plans are available to everyone. If a family needs additional assistance, beyond what is offered here, we encourage them to email info@girlsontherunsemi.org or call (734) 712-5640.

*Please note that in addition to offering financial assistance, we will pay all site usage/community education fees (ranging from $23-$30 per child) to school districts on family's behalf.

Regardless of fees paid, each program participant will receive:

- Sixteen 90-minute lessons (24 hours of instruction)

- An official program shirt, cinch sack, and water bottle

- An activity journal and program handouts

- A Grown Ups Guide

- Entry into the culminating Girls on the Run 5K

- A commemorative bib and finisher's medal

- An end of season celebration, completion certificate, and program keepsake

*Program registration fees are also used to pay for coach training, CPR certifications, volunteer background checks, curriculum books, program supplies (markers, index cards, stickers, cones, balls, etc.), staff to support coaches and families, our website and registration system, comprehensive liability insurance, the Girls on the Run 5K event and service fees to Girls on the Run International (for curriculum development, program evaluation, coach training development, etc.).

Site Funds & Snacks
Each team will be given funds to utilize for any team extras such as supplies for their practice 5K or end of season celebration. At most of our sites we were able to receive snacks for our teams via the Food Service Programs. We are awaiting the Michigan school budget currently to find out if that will be an option this season. For schools that don't provide this, families will be asked to pack a snack for their child, and/or those site funds may be utilized to purchase some snacks as well. Along with this, Girls on the Run will be sharing 3 shelf stable snacks per participant with each team to help subsidize.

Site Leader/Coach Participant Discount
We offer a 50% discounted registration fee for our site leaders and full time coaches who have a child participating in the program this season. If the remaining discounted fee is still too much, we encourage you to utilize the sliding scale and we will happily work with you if that amount is still a hardship to find an amount that is most comfortable for your family. Our program lead will share a discount code to use when registering your participant.

Athletic Shoes

We offer families and coaches the opportunity to receive athletic shoes if lack of having them is a barrier to participating. Coaches will be asked in their application and participants during the registration process if this is a need.

Coaching Stipend Opportunity
It's important for us to try to remove barriers to volunteering with our program. We offer coaches an opportunity for up to $250 stipend if there are barriers that otherwise wouldn't allow the volunteer to coach, such as childcare, transportation costs, etc. While we would LOVE to pay every coach for the time and commitment you put into your teams, unfortunately we don't have the funding to support that, and so we ask that only those coaches who truly need that assistance request it so that we are able to continue to help those who do. The stipends are not intended to be used to cover registration fees for the coaches' child (please utilize the financial assistance for that), or costs for their GOTR team. Each team will be provided with a Visa Emburse card for extra supplies for things such as the 5K and end of the season celebration.

Program Fee Refund

Any refund requests for participants dropping from the program must be made to the Girls on the Run office prior to the first week of the season. Girls on the Run SEMI is unable to provide refunds to participants after the season begins.

To complete this application, you must provide the following information:

School/Site location (address), phone number and principals' email
Meeting days/times. GOTR teams (3rd-6th grades) meet twice weekly for 90 minutes for 8 weeks (16 sessions). We recommend meeting directly after school for best attendance.

For site approval
In order for your site to be approved, sites must have:

At least 2 full time coaches (or the equivalent) identified and they must submit their coaching application. We highly recommend a 3rd coach as an extra set of hands, a built in substitute, and in case you reach your maximum of 15 participants. Teams with 3 coaches may serve up to 20 participants.
