Eligibility and Selection

Team selection operates on a rolling basis. To participate, you must be at least 18 years old, capable of finishing the marathon within a six-hour time limit, and agree to the requirements detailed below.

Training and Team Engagement

Tackling a marathon requires significant dedication to both your physical training and your fundraising goals. To ensure you have a rewarding experience, Girls in Gear provides dedicated support, including fundraising guidance, professional coaching, and regular check-ins. We highly encourage runners to participate in scheduled team meetings and group training sessions.

Race Day Apparel

All runners representing our organization must wear official Girls in Gear team apparel during the 2027 Boston Marathon.

Fundraising Guarantee

Securing a charity bib requires a minimum fundraising pledge of $15,000. If you have not reached your pledged minimum by April 12, 2027, Girls in Gear reserves the right to charge the remaining balance to your on-file credit card unless an alternative arrangement has been previously approved.

Withdrawal Deadline

If you need to step down from the team and dissolve your financial obligation, you must submit a written cancellation request to Gabrielle Rossi on or before January 4, 2027. If you withdraw after this date for any reason - including medical emergencies or physical injuries - you remain completely responsible for raising or personally donating your total pledged amount.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Employer matching programs are an excellent way to boost your total. Please check if your employer or your donors' employers offer this benefit. All matching funds must be received by Girls in Gear before race day to count toward your required minimum.

B.A.A. Registration Requirements

Once selected for the team, Girls in Gear will guide you through the official Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) entry process. You will be responsible for a separate $390 B.A.A. registration fee, which does not count toward your fundraising pledge. Please wait for our instructions rather than contacting the B.A.A. directly to secure your bib.

Liability, Media, and Medical Waiver

By accepting this entry, I waive and release Girls in Gear, along with its staff, volunteers, and sponsors, from any claims or liabilities regarding injury, death, or damages sustained during the event, training sessions, or related travel. I certify that a licensed physician has verified my physical fitness to participate.

I grant Girls in Gear full permission to use my name, likeness, and voice in any media related to this event without compensation. Furthermore, in the event of a medical emergency during training or the race,

I authorize Girls in Gear to seek necessary medical care on my behalf and accept full financial responsibility for any associated medical, transport, or treatment costs. I confirm I have signed this agreement voluntarily and rely on my own judgment.
