5K Pre-Event Volunteers

Goodie Bags Assembling Team- This team’s responsibility is to assist in assembling participant Goodie Bags for Packet Pick-up. (Time commitment: Usually 1 or 2 afternoons)

Poster Distribution Team- This team’s responsibility is to distribute event posters around town to designated businesses. (Time commitment: Usually 1 day for several hours)

T-shirt Sorting Team- This team’s responsibility is to assist with sorting t-shirts by registration date and size in preparation for Packet Pick-up. (Time commitment: Usually 1 or 2 afternoons)

Packet Pick-up Team- This team’s responsibility is to assist at your Packet Pick-up Event that is held before Race Day. This is a great volunteer opportunity for people who want to help with the race, yet still want to participate in the event! (Time commitment: Usually one 4 hour shift)

5K Race Day Volunteers

Start/Finish Line Team- This team is responsible for assisting at the Starting Line as participants line up and begin the event. They are also responsible for helping at the Finish Line to gather chips or tear off bibs (depending if you are using chip timing or manual timing) as participants finish the race. (Time commitment: 3 hours during the event)

Cleanup Crew-This team is responsible for disassembling all equipment and cleaning up all areas used during the event. (Time commitment: 3 hours during the event)

Refreshment Team-This team is responsible for opening boxes of snacks and having refreshments available to participants after they finish the race. (Time commitment: 3 hours during the event)

Course Setup- This team is responsible for helping setup the course before the event, i.e. setup mile markers, starting line/finish line, refreshments area, DJ Booth, etc. (Time commitment: 2 - 3 hours before the race starts)

Registration- This team is responsible for registering new participants or helping preregistered participants pick up their race materials, i.e. t-shirt, Goodie Bag, timing chip, etc. (Time commitment: 3 hours before the race starts)

Course Monitoring Team- This team’s responsibility is to be a presence along the course. Course monitors will be assigned a specific area on the course to encourage participants, assist in directing them towards the right path, and calling for help should an emergency arise. (Time commitment: 3 hours during the event)
